About the UEFA Champions League
The UEFA Champions League is the annual club football competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and contested by top-division clubs from its member associations. Founded in 1955 as the European Champion Clubs' Cup, it was rebranded to the UEFA Champions League in 1992 and expanded in format multiple times — most recently in 2024 when the traditional eight-group stage was replaced by a single 36-team league phase. It is considered the most prestigious club trophy in world football and the most-watched annual sporting event on Earth.
