About the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores
The CONMEBOL Libertadores, commonly known as the Copa Libertadores, is the premier club football competition in South America, organised by CONMEBOL. It has been contested since 1960, making it the oldest continental club football competition after the European Cup. The winner qualifies for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and plays in the following season's CONMEBOL Recopa Sudamericana against the Copa Sudamericana champion. Independiente of Argentina hold the record for most titles (7) and earned the nickname 'Rey de Copas' — King of Cups — for their dominance in the 1970s.
